Privacy Policy

Silicon Dreams (“we”, “us”, “our”) built this video converter to work without accounts and with as little data as possible. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the Silicon Dreams Video Converter (the “Service”), why, and the choices you have.

In short: no signup, no tracking cookies, no advertising profiles, and converted files are deleted as soon as your download finishes. We keep a simple visit log (including IP addresses) for 90 days to understand our traffic and prevent abuse.

1. Information we process

  • Video links you submit. The URL is used only to fetch the video’s details and perform your conversion. We do not save a history of links.

  • Temporary media files. Our server downloads the video to a private temporary folder, converts it, sends the file to your browser and then immediately deletes it. Anything left over (for example after an interrupted download) is deleted automatically within one hour.
  • Technical data. Like any website, the server that hosts our pages receives your IP address, browser type, and the date and time of requests when your browser loads them. Our hosting provider may record standard access logs.
  • Visit log. When you open a page, we record your IP address, the page, the date and time, your browser, operating system and device type, and the website you came from. When a download finishes or fails, we record the website (YouTube or Facebook) and the format you chose. We do not record the video links you paste. Only Silicon Dreams staff can see this log, in a password-protected admin area.

2. What we do not collect

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, password or payment details. We do not use advertising trackers, fingerprinting, or sell or rent personal information.

3. How long we keep data

  • Converted files: deleted as soon as your download completes (at most one hour).
  • Visit log: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Server access logs (if enabled by our host): up to 30 days, for security and troubleshooting, unless longer retention is required by law.

4. Why we process data

We process the limited data above to provide the conversion you request, to understand how many people use the Service and how, to keep the Service secure and available, to prevent abuse, and to comply with legal obligations. Where data-protection laws such as the GDPR apply, our legal bases are the performance of the service you request and our legitimate interest in operating a secure service.

5. Cookies & local storage

We do not set tracking or advertising cookies. If you use the light/dark theme switch, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it. This never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

When you load a video, its thumbnail picture is loaded from YouTube or Facebook, which may record that request under their own policies.

6. Third-party services

  • YouTube and Facebook. To convert a video, our server requests it from the platform, and your browser loads its thumbnail from the platform. These platforms process those requests under their own privacy policies.
  • Google Fonts. Our typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser requests the font files.
  • Hosting provider. The Service runs on servers operated by our hosting provider, which processes data on our behalf.

If we add analytics or advertising in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

7. Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell or share your personal information for marketing. We may disclose information only if required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect the rights, safety and security of Silicon Dreams, our users or the public.

8. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, isolated temporary storage, automatic file deletion, and security headers to protect the Service. No online service can be completely secure, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum to reduce risk.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK, the CCPA/CPRA in California, or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data-protection authority. Because we do not keep accounts or link history, we usually hold no data that can identify you, but you can contact us and we will respond within the time required by law.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. International transfers

Our servers and service providers may be located in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
